Description
Hard hit by the Great Depression, Danny Garvey’s father is forced to leave his family behind in New York CIty while he sets out in search of work. In his absence, Danny does whatever he can to keep the family afloat: whether that means helping his mother with her laundry business or earning a few extra pennies shining shoes. But even that isn’t enough, especially as the months go by with no word from Pa.
When his father moves away to find work and his mother becomes ill, Danny struggles to help his family during the Great Depression.
